Nearly an acre of lush gardens surrounds the villa, with an old coconut-lined pathway leading towards the sea. Beyond it, the Indian Ocean stretches towards Thalpe's distinctive rocky coastline, while Sri Lanka's iconic stilt fishermen can still be seen along this remarkable part of the southern coast. Designed by renowned Sri Lankan architect Shayan Kumaradas, Cloisters combines generous spaces, tropical living and understated luxury. Period furniture and artwork collected from around the world give the house its own personality, while the architecture constantly draws the eye back towards the gardens, pool and ocean. **The Villa** Cloisters accommodates up to 6 adults and 2 children across three spacious bedroom suites. The first-floor private apartment offers a beautiful four-poster bedroom, an exceptionally large bathroom and a private indoor-outdoor shower. A smaller adjoining bedroom with two single beds makes the apartment particularly suitable for families. The apartment also has its own drawing room, open-plan kitchenette, expansive terrace and yoga pavilion overlooking the surroundings. Two further large bedroom suites open onto private patios facing the swimming pool. Both feature six-foot four-poster beds, with one bedroom configurable as a twin, together with comfortable seating, desks, dressing areas and fitted wardrobes. All bedrooms are air-conditioned and fitted with mosquito nets. **Life at Cloisters** At the heart of the property is an impressive 50-foot swimming pool, surrounded by sheltered areas for sunbathing and relaxing. Indoor and outdoor dining spaces make the villa equally suited to leisurely breakfasts, long lunches or dinners beneath the tropical sky. A private beach terrace sits at the edge of the property with direct access to the beach — an extraordinary setting for watching the Sri Lankan sunset. One of Cloisters' most distinctive features is its custom-designed indoor-outdoor shower.
